Default my f4i

hey all within the last month I picked up a 2006 f4i. the bike has 44,000 and it runs great. i recently have been doing a bunch of work to make the bike how i want it. the bike was naked when I purchased with bad tires. it has clean air mod, oil pickup and baffle, some fat bars. the owner gave me a full extra triple tree with forks and another full front brake system with calipers and master. spare front rim and rotors, 2 seat fairing and 2 front wheel fairing. I have done a lot of work in the little time I have but the bike is coming together great.

Will do. Bike has been pretty easy to work on so far, after all it is a Honda. Flushed coolant yesterday with Honda Genuine coolant, reserve was bone dry. Got the oem windscreen in today. Can’t put it on yet because these fat bars the guy did a hack job putting on stick up to high and hit the brake master when turning. I’m going to wait until I have these forks done so I can put them along with the stock clip ons back. Took the bike just up and down the block tonight, first ride I have been on was short but smooth. Funny to me you can’t monitor fuel level until you’re on reserve.

Looks great, well done. How did the replacement fairing fit?
Yeah the fuel gauge is a 'feature' you will have to just keep an eye on your mileage when you get a feel for how you ride it and how much juice you are going through.
For me its c.150 miles before reserve when not riding too hard.

Okay thanks that good to know. I purchased the fairings from ebay, they fit great the only part I notice is under the headlight sags a little which only I see but I’ll find a solution. Maybe i’m missing something

had the bike out tonight for its first legal ride, it was great. temps were all in check after coolant flush, new bars and tires feel great. Just waiting on the grips. The bike is pretty loud with the shorty exhaust but it sounds awesome. Tonight was the nicest night we have had in pa in a long time. Trying to decide on a color for the fairings. I really like BMW Tanzanite Blue or something similar…

hello i’ve had the time to do some work on my f4i recently… I have both forks rebuilt and ready, and tonight I installed the manual CCT which was not terrible but a tight spot as expected. Only took off seat, gas tank, rear master, coolant overflow and dropped side fairing a little. The use of some extensions along with a swivel I squeezed my hands in for around 2 hours and got the thing changed. Now to set the tension tomorrow and see how she sounds!

Yep a bit of a tight squeeze but doable with copious amount of swearing and scraped knuckles. Great job on the forks.
One of mine is weeping slightly so will have to get that done did you have any problems getting the old seals out? How did you drive the new ones back in?

Wasn’t too bad at all. Just jam them apart to remove old seals after retaining clips are out. I used electrical tape method to drive new ones in, it worked great. Just wrap enough around to push them in good
