Default moving up from my 250r, opinions please :)

selling my 09 kawi 250r next spring and most likely going to buy my friends f4i... its an 04 with 11k miles, pretty much all stock, no drops that i know of. black/red... shes asking for $3800.. from what ive seen on craigslist and a quick glance over forum classifieds, it seems like a pretty good deal

opinions guys?

It's worth as much as you're willing to pay for it. $3,800 seems reasonable. If you're happy with spending a certain amount, then go for it.

It really depends on the area. A bike is only worth what you think it is worth and a lot of people here will tell you that. Another guy here just bought a f4i for 5500, i want to say it was an 06. If you feel like your getting a good deal then go for it. Welcome to the club if you end up with the F4i.

well, thats all very true, and i guess what i was looking for is... is this at the low end price range for an 04 f4i? i can definitely work on the price some if justified, but i also know that many 09 ninja 250s were going for 3500-3900 at the start of the season

of course, id love to hear "oh ****, ****** that up, its a steal" but any opinions are welcome. i dont want to low-lowball my friend, but at the same time i dont want to pay an average price when she wants to help out

All the above being said, not knowing the true history - other than what little you've listed, & not seeing any pictures, ...OK, yes, I'd say that's a very fair price.

I would however, insist on a factory Honda shop once-over thorough check. This would cost an hr (or less) of shop labor & would be well worth your piece of mind.

Good luck.

The deal seems fair in the price range. It's not cheap, but it's not expensive from your description of the bike. Seems like a good point since you don't want to low ball your friend and your friend wants to help. But that 3800 should be all you need to get going besides the regular maintenance.

ah, good point on the once-over inspection, ill check that out as well. from what shes told me, nothing has gone wrong with it other than her ex bf putting a TON of miles on it since he got it. i assume it was run hard, but what bike isnt for the most part?

assuming once-over goes well, i may see if she will do 3600-3700 im nervous, but very excited to ride my first 600. i hear lots of goods and bads about it compared to my ninja 250

I just purchased an 01 f4i and I was uncomfortable at first on the bike but then got used to the different riding position and it wasn't so bad. I had to drive it for an hour and a half home. I wasn't all that sore, not as bad as I initially thought. I too am coming from a 250r and I'm glad I learned on the smaller, lighter, more forgiving bike, but I am ready for the 600 and it is an awesome machine.

edit: I also rode the 250 to my sisters house for storage/use there right after the drive home on the f4i. There was a huge difference riding the 250 after the cbr, but it was a comfortable transition as far as weight, height (I'm 5'10) and balance going to the cbr from the 250. It is also much nicer on the highway, as long as you tuck your shirt in

Seems like an ok price. Could you find better? Yes. Just get it checked out. "Ex-BF rode it hard" makes me a lil suspicious.

When I got my 02 in 05, it had 3800 miles on it and I paid 3500 at the Honda Dealership. I just got my 05 1000RR and paid 5500 for it with 1600 miles and I live in Nebraska.

Offer 2500 and she if she goes any lower on the price, the guy wanted 6000 for his and took 5500. If you can get it cheaper, why not. Besides, there are literally hundreds of bikes that will go on sale now that riding season is almost over.
