I just bought a used 02 F4i with 20k on the clock.
the motor whines on start-up and after it's warmed up, whines in gear and out of gear and all the way from idle to redline. What could be the problem? Is this normal for Honda motors?

What is the idle and cruising temp of the motor? Mine sometimes goes to 232F while sitting at the light, after normal riding.

dude let me know if you find out about the whine. i got an 02 f4i as a track bike in addition to my 05 f4i. the 05 has a slight whine at all rpm, but the whine in the 02 is obnoxiously loud. i posted a question and got one reply, the poster said to use the stick method to try and locate where it is originating.

other suggestions center around the cam chain and the bearings. apparently bearings will whine if they are damaged.
