Hey everyone I like many others had the CCT problem and the rattling really annoyed me. so i purchased the APE unit and installed it and presto! back to normal. well after a few days i started to notice a very faint tick which souded like it was coming from around my speedo area but after further inspection it is actually coming from the head of the motor but now on the left hand side opposite of the cam chain. i re adjusted the CCT thinking i may had it too tight or something and the noise is still there. it is very frustrating and i know it isnt supposed to be there and dont want any motor troubles. if any of you have any clue or have experienced this any help would be greatly appreciated. thanks

 

how many miles sre on the bike????

 

Its an 01 with only 5400 miles it seems to get louder the more i ride it then once i let it sit its like it goes back to quieter and works its way to loud again. very frustrating and dont want to have to take it to the dealership and pay them 70 bucks just to tell me what it is. thanks again

check the exhaust...could be an exhaust leak at the headeror just valve chatter (which is normal as long as valves are in spec).

 

would valves make sense that it gets louder the longer i ride it?

 

valves wouldn't get louder per se...but the ticking would be more frequent as RPM increases.
is this noise independent of RPM and speed?
coast it in neutral...with engine off...do you still hear it?

 

it is definitely motor cause i have it parked with motor on, rev it up, and it makes the noise. to me it sounds like it is coming from the same area of the head as a cct problem but on the opposite side of the motor. its really pissing me off cause i dont have money to take it in but i also dont want to ride it around if its a big deal.
