Missing relay but still works fine? help!
Sorry for posting two threads, but it seems i've been having trouble getting feedback recently.
Can anyone explain this to me? I recently crashed, and replaced my front fairing, as i'm putting it back together i noticed a lot of wires cut and spliced. There's one in particular that stands out. I think there's supposed to be a relay here, but instead they cut two wires and tied them together. Anyone know what i should do, and whether this is safe? I think it's for the primer. When i disconnected it, it still started, but there was no priming sound, if that makes sense. Ok image time: https://lh4.googleusercontent.com/-n...0804-00102.jpg Thanks! PS just realized the flash was strong, the wire colors are red green and white with a black line. |
That's probably the low-speed relay. At less than 9 mph it restricts the air-flow
to give better response. A lot of people remove the relay and short across it. My F3 came that way when I bought it and I haven't bothered replacing it. I don't know enough to tell you, if this is a good idea or not. Perhaps a wiser head can make a comment here as well? That's my best guess, as to what you have. Hope it helps, Ern |
Thanks! I'm just confused why it's on the wiring harness that basically feeds the head lights, and turn signals. Just weird.

Well, only madhattr seems to be the only one trying to be helpful. I'm kind of disappointed in how lacking the responses were.
Oh well, i figured it out. It's for the bank angle sensor, the guy jumped the two outer wires so the bikes motor would prime and start correctly. That is all. I'm not sure why, but i'm guessing he crashed it, and the sensor busted. That or he stunted it, or popped wheelies or something. Anyone care to put in .02 on these topic? |
Oops, sorry I blew the call. That's why I qualified my answer. I'm all over the F3,
but the injected F4 bikes are only what I've heard/researched. Ern |
