Mirror shield and bugs.

Does anyone know a good way to clean smashed bugs off a gold mirrored faceshield without scratching off/ damaging the coating? Its a new faceshield, so I'd rather not ruin it already...

windex and a microfiber towel?

I either use that or the detail spray i use on the bike and a microfiber.

Spray with some sort of cleaner, let soak a bit, wipe off most of the stuff in one swipe as to avoid scratching. Spray again, clean the rest with a clean portion of the rag. Just gotta make sure to use a very soft rag, and avoid swirling or dragging around the dirt.

They say not to use windex on shields...I guess the amonia screws it up...I used to use it on my mirrored shield and only lasted one season...I know use furniture polish...(Pledge) and it works great...i also buy a antifog lens cleaner that contains no amonia and also works great...always use a microfiber cloth as well and make sure you let the bugs guts (if dried and crusty) soak for a bit to soften it up...my 2 cents...:)

did you get the shoei spectre mirrors?

I usually just take mine off the helmet and run it under warm water and wash/dry with a lint free or microfibre towel. Cleaners can leave a little residue as well.

I use my pressure washer, or go to a car wash and spend a buck fifty.

You spend a $1.50 to pressure wash you helmet visor? You must have some hardcore bugs down there!

Pledge works better that anything, and its cheap. I use it on my bike and on my helmet/faceshield. I have never noticed any scratches on anything from it... and I am very anal about stuff like that.

Just spray it on, let it sit for a few minutes, and wipe it off. if you have some bugs really baked on you may have to do it twice to get the hard ones off. Also, do this with a quality paper towel, (ie: Viva by Kleenex) or a nice microfiber towel.
