Just reposting this in case anyone missed it:
https://cbrforum.com/forum/how-mecha...models-105389/ Also, you can get the switch for MUCH cheaper on rockauto.com (i just paid $8 shipped) and pretty cheap on ebay too. |
Just installed it, was pretty easy.
Fan comes on at 201F turns off at 195F. Just perfect! http://i48.tinypic.com/zlop.jpg |

How reliable are our fans? I live in Bakersfield and it gets pretty damn hot here 100+ in may through September usually, and if I have my fan kick on at 201 then my fan would prolly be on non stop... Is that healthy? Lol
If youre in constant motion your temps are above 180-190?
Yea even when I'm on freeway during the day its around 200-215
Mr. Phil your bike is running hot. Regardless of the outside temp, at highway speeds you should never be over 200. Check your coolant level.
I have, its topped off with green stuff... I'm but running engine ice or any additives though... This was the stuff in there when I bought the bike

Just perfect! http://i48.tinypic.com/zlop.jpg Am I basically just cutting the plug off the sensor and grounding one wire and wiring up the other wire to the factory wire? Once I take the side off this weekend it will probably make sense just trying to get an idea. Thanks for the help!! |
THATS IT!, its so easy. Be ready to use your thumb to cover the hole in the radiator to stop coolant from leaking out. Then you just take the o-ring from the original sensor and put it on the new sensor and screw it in.
Nice, just ordered one. I need to do a flush on my cooling system anyways. Not sure when the last time it was done and I've been running pretty hot sitting at lights lately.
Well I did this yesterday and found out I havent even had a fan for about a year now.:icon_redface: There was a plug jammed in my fan that stopped it from working. After changing a fuse I found the sensor was bad so I put in the new one and everything works like a charm. Can't believe it took me that long to figure out my fan wasn't working, guess I just never pay attention to it. Oh and my fan turns on now around 200 which is nice!! :icon_dance-cpatch:
