I am looking at buying an '01 F4i for my first bike. It has 18k miles on it and I know bikes don't have the longevity of cars, whats the average life span for these pups?

These "pups" will last as long as the owner keeps buying chow to keep them healthy. It's an engine, not a time bomb.

ive heard of some going over the 100k mark if theyre properly maintained.

Good routine maintenance will go a long way. There are several regular members on here (that I've noticed) who have well over 100k miles on their bikes.

They'll last for as long as you want them to last.... just take care of them and don't rag the living crap outta them and they'll last damn near forever. Just replace the stock CCT with an APE manual, cut the connectors and hardwire the stator and R/R wires to the harness, and remove the ground wire from the headlight harness connector and hardwire to the main harness. Pretty much the only problems an F4i will ever have other than maybe a fuel pressure regulator

Seriously... it's a Honda, and an F4i at that, they're truly bulletproof. Don't worry about mileage, if it's in good shape and been taken care of, buy it!

My '04 F4i is about to turn 184,000 miles and running strong as ever, still ridden each and everyday and on long trips :)

My friend has a 2000 F4 Which is the same engine just not fuel injected and he sold it in 2007 with 98,000 miles and it ran like a top. He also had crashed it over 9 times in that time frame and stunted it every single time he road. He wheelied that bike for miles on the freeway and treated it about as hard as you can including a 80mph crash. Bike still ran great.

Most bikes last around 30,000 before the owners have crashed them so much the bike is gone. If you take care of it then who knows. Many people have high milage. Im at 38,000 and the engine hasen't even starting turning the oil black when I change it.

I have 43k on my f4i, other then excessive valve noise. It runs great.
