Leaky water pump cover..

Before I had a really bad leak at about 180 degrees coolant would be dripping out of my water pump cover right here. http://i13.photobucket.com/albums/a2..._6386129_n.jpg

I got some rtv and made that real bad leak go away but about a month after the original fix I noticed a small drip every couple of days when the bike is not running. Could this be because I need to use hondabond non acidic? http://store.58cycle.com/product_p/hon%20sealant.htm

It says it could still leak because I used the wrong "automotive" sealant... How different could a sealant be?

Any one that can help please get in here! I want to ride!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are you sure its the pump cover and not the pump itself? My water pump was leaking threw the weep hole when the bike was up to temp. I replaced the whole pump and have not had an issue since.

Yeah if youre fixing the symptoms and not the problem any solution is just going to be temporary. Your best bet is to make sure the pump or something else isn't the cause of the leak. If not try using the right sealant whatever it is. Its probably stronger/more durable and will hold up to the certain conditions its meant for better than the sealant you used. Theyre all different and meant for different purposes so who knows.

I ordered a new gasket and the hondabond last night. I will repair it again and if it still leaks when it's off I will bring it in for service and have the water pump replaced at the same time.

Edit. What is the weep hole and where is it?

Do you have the manual? If so it is on page 6-13. Honda calls it the inspection hole. The manual gives you a good idea of where it is at. If not it is on the shaft just behind where all the hoses go into the pump. Here is what the manual says "Inspect the inspection hole for signs of coolant leakage. If there is leakage, the mechanical seal is defective and replace the water pump assembly"

I don't have the manual.. I guess a tech could diagnose it pretty quick then huh?

yeah they could but don't take it to the dealer man they will rip you off. Download the manual. http://hondatech.info/downloads/Moto/CBR/CBR600/
Just click on the 01-03 F4i.

not hoping to steal this. My bike leaks when i rev it at 11,000 rpms, would it because of the o-rings?
