Question Lambda/O2 sensor...

Morning all... I bought my 04 f4i two weeks ago, the booked said the lambda/O2 sensor had gone and he had ordered a new on and would either send it or come and put it in for me...
Now, two weeks later he has he the wrong one sent so sent back and we are waiting...
My mot is due before end of March, I presume not having one would fail not as it throws up a warning light but do Eliminators fail you?
Does anyone know a DIY cheap Eliminator fix?
Or should I wait and put the proper one in?
Also it runs fine, I'm not causing any harm riding it with no sensor or Eliminator?
Thanks and clear roads to you all ;-)

are you causing harm? more than likely not, but you may not meet emissions if that is what MOT stands for.
i think the O2 is going to lean out your bike based on its reading, you are probably going to be running rich. if you bypass it with a resistor it may think you are getting nominal readings. and never make any adjustments to the FI.
bottom line, if it doesn't throw a FI code ride it, if it does put a resistor across the wires and ride it. if your fuel economy goes down then you are in the clear if not then you probably want to put it back in cause running lean isn't good.

The O2 sensor only works when your bike is going at a steady speed. It tells the ecu to lean out during those rpms of steady speed. so you can expect better gas mileage with it on.

i know this is an older thread but just telling u all a little trick that cost nothing to fix the problem if u just want to get rid of the o2 sensor. what you do is cut the two white wires on the sensor and on the side that is still connected to the sensor plug/ not connected to the sensor its self and just wire those two white wires together and presto no more FI blinking code

If you plan on getting a PCIII in the future then take it off, if not, there's really no point, your mpg will suffer though
