Just got a flat

Yep on my way out of manhattan I picked something up on their $hitty roads, made it to Armonk NY before my tire ate itself alive... Now I'm just sitting at the gas station. Waiting for my girlfried who is an hour away to come get me... Anybody in the area have a spare rear rim/tire they want to sell or lend me? Pref. With a stock sprocket already on it? No? Oh well guess I'll just wait for her... Oh yeah, and it poured on me...

Most gas stations should have plug kits and compressed air. Im guessing you've exhausted that option though?

How did the tire "eat itself alive"? I wouldn't make it 100ft with a flat tire before I pulled over and stopped, you had to ride it flat forever to shred it.

I got a flat on some back ass road earlier this year and had to ride on the flat for maybe 7 miles to the next town. Nightmare. It felt like the tire was going to come off the rim. Nevertheless I found a plug kit at a gas station and fixed it up and went on my way. It's a real pain trying to plug a flat tire.

Yeah sorry for the delayed response, here's what happened.
Friday evening in the Bronx NY I got a hole in my tire, got downpoured on, but I got it plugged and pumped back up, it was all set so I decided to ride it home, but take it easy.
I got out of the city limits, on 684 I felt the rear pull left then right, felt something hit the back of my leg, so I pulled over as soon as I could. I could feel my rear was flat so I slowed cautiously. When I got over to the shoulder I looked at my tire and saw the hole with the plug, and a few inches away from it the treads had pulled away from the inner belt/tire, which is what I felt hit my leg. After further investigation, I could see that the tread had pulled away from the tire in more locations, it was pretty scary. I managed to keep the shiny side up though.
Luckily my girlfriend and her dad drove an hour to come pick me and the bike up.
There's a whole story about some great people in CT that really helped me out Saturday getting a tire on, but it's too late righ now so I'll spiel about that in another post tomorrow.
