Yeah you can do it to the carbon fiber cans.....I'm his friend that cut 6" off of mine the other day. I just used a jigsaw with a fiberglass blade on it, and masked off the area where I was cutting so that the weave of the carbon fiber wouldnt get all screwed up.. it cut right through and worked just fine. Here are some before and after pictures....
