Default its hard to try out this f4i when it won't start...

Alright here's the deal, I joined this forum because I need some help. I've currently been riding a 04 honda vtx 1300. But I'm thinking about getting back into the sport bike scene. So a buddy of mine left me his f4i to ride while he is on deployment so I can see how I like it.
Problem is, the bike won't start!! I know he has ridden it recently, and it has good gas. The battery is weak, but I've tried jumping it and charging it. It seems like it just isn't getting gas. My vtx has a carb, and the problem the f4i is having is comparable to me having my petcock for my fuel shut off, or as if one of my vaccum lines is disconnected. I'm just not used to this EFI system. The bike tries to turn over, but just won't fire. I checked the hoses coming from the tank and everything seems fine. Is there some little thing I seem to be over looking? I feel like a retard. Lol help a kid out! Thanks in advance.

Try holding the throttle wide open and cranking it for a bit.

So it could be the battery after all?? Even if it acts like it is starving for gas, the cause could just be a bad battery? I'd love it to be that easy, but I don't want to go by a battery tender, and it not fix anything. And is a battery tender the same thing as a trickle charger?

If you were able to jump it and the starter spins it, then the battery isnt the problem.

Thats were i was going kup. Do you hear the fuel pumpwind up when you turn the key? If not you need to toggle the kill switch down to get fuel into the system. G-luck.
