internal Performance for CBR 600 f4i
 

Hey, I've recently bought a 2005 CBR 600 f4i with a few engine problems, since Ive ripped the engine down to nothing but a block and am planning on replace everything, I am wondering what is recommened when it comes to performance pistons, connecting arms, cams, crank and valves. basicallly anything that can be done to this engine to make it have better acceleration and faster top end.

Unlike cars these bikes come from the factory pretty much already maxed out in terms of engine performance. There might be a couple companies who make cams or pistons for the F4i but they will be few and far between and probably really expensive. It's not like there is a Jegs or Summit racing for sport bike parts. If you do find these parts they might make the bike a little faster but it's not going to be a night and day difference.

Your best bet would be to rebuild with fresh stuff and then maybe use a thinner head gasket. I'm sure you could probably get cams/regrinds that increase upper RPM performance at the cost of low end if you wanted something for the track or whatever.

Either way most of the same stuff applies to rebuilding a bike engine so if you know what you're doing then you should'nt have a problem. If this is your first rebuild, just go stock and remember to use dino oil.

these guys summed it up perfectly. if you want better top end, you need to just buy a bigger bike. NO motor swaps arent worth it, they end up being headaches, moneypits and huge pains in the ass. and usually are either a POS when they're done, or are really dangerous, unreliable, etc. not counting the fact that swapping motors cost roughly what buyin a larger bike would.

wiseco does make piston kits but im almost positive theyre just the same as the stock pistons and dont offer much in terms of performance gains.
