Insurance during winter
I just wanted to see, since winter will be coming around in a few months and this is the first winter i've had my bike, how many people end up dropping there insurance for a few months and bank in on the cash that there saving?
Also if you do, have you noticed any penalties that the insurance companies try to pull with you?

RE: Insurance during winter
I haven't checked with mine since I ride year round, but......
Premiums are generally yearly and are based on the consideration that a motorcycle is only used X-days a year, so I would definitly check with your agent before you drop your ins. Gaps may make it more difficult to get a policy again in the spring.

RE: Insurance during winter
My State Farm agent told me the premiums are weighted towards the summer months to try and avoid people dropping it in the winter. That way you would only get back a small amount of money compared to 1/4 or more depending on how many months you would drop. It's a good idea to keep it anyway because there will be days you will ride, even in winter, and something can happen with the bike in a garage that may need coverage.

RE: Insurance during winter
yeah you definetly cant drop insurance if your financing, but mine was already paid for so i didnt have to worry about that. I just dropped my car insurance over the summer and was wondering if i should do it to my bike during winter. Winter here gets somewhat impossible to ride on a bike. Figure i could hold off on some modsto the bike till winter insurance payments. Guess i better check my current insurance if they allow, but ppl keep posting if you do this and who your insurance company is.
