Default Installing Dual Low/High Beam HID in F4i?

Hey everyone,

Ive been searching the forums for days on how I would install a H4 dual low/high HID system in my f4i.

I have seen threads on how to wire the headlight so both sides light both low and high using an H4 bulb and some wiring and relays. But it never mentions how to do this with an HID Kit.

We installed an dual H4 HID system in one of my shops machines, and took it out when we sold it and I can buy it for DIRT cheap! I want my bike to not wink at everyone and have H4 HID lights on both sides.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. I am mechanically inclined but I am no electrical engineer so figuring it all out on my own will probably end up in a melted wiring harness.

Thanks folks!

It's pretty much the same process, you just use an HID kit instead of incandescent bulbs.

Best way to do this is to get a set of projectors.

But projectors on ebay would run me well over $350 when the dual H4 HID kit from work would be maybe $70.

All the write ups I found seemed to lead to dead forums

How do I wire the bike to accept H4 bulbs normally where I dont have to worry about melting or ruining anything? Once its wired to run dual low and high beams I can then just install the HID kits?

If you run a bulb in the what is the high beam location it is going to be very bright, even when on low, because the way the internal reflectors are made.
The bulb that is currently in there is the same wattage as the the one in the low beam side.

+1

Your reflector on the brake side is still for Hi beam, In order for you to have 2 lo beams you would need to open up your headlight housing and replace the brake side reflector with a clutch side one.

These are the projectors most use: Bi-xenon: Morimoto Mini H1 6.0 - HID Projectors from The Retrofit Source Inc

They will be about $145 + shipping
Also the FX-R on the same website are a good retrofit projector with a higher price tag.

In all honesty if it was an easy fix I think every F4i owner would do it.

If I where to order these Projectors, how much modifying do I need to do to install them? Obviously I would need to crack the light housing open in the oven or with a heat gun, but will I need to hack it all up to install them? Obviously I still need the H4 HID kit as well as the projectors correct?

And once the Projectors are installed inside the housing how do I wire up the F4I harness to run the dual Low/High set-up with the HID system that would end with me melting my main harness?

I would happily spend the extra money to do it properly so long as I have an idea with how to do so.

Thanks for all your help so far!
