Information regarding Vortex Frame Slider Install

In case anyone is about to attempt this I took the "play-doh" method approach and mine are DEAD on PERFECT. I am sure the laser way works just as well but for those that dont have the tools to use the laser the play-doh method works great. I could have done either one but it seemed to me that the play-doh would be just as spot on and it was. Just a FYI for everyone out there.

What exactly did you do? Just shove play-dough in the bolt hole, attach the fairing, and the play-dough stuck where you should drill? I need to do my sliders soon before I paint my fairings, and would love to know how to do it without the laser nonsense.

I also used the Play-Doh method. The guys at
the dealership asked how I got them so spot on
when they were doing the 600mi service on Tuesday.

There's a link to a tutorial somewhere on here.

When I did mine, I put the bolts on, but not the slider, then I put the fairing on. The bolt made a mark on the foam backing of the fairing, and I drilled there. It was not 100% perfect, but it was 99% perfect.

I tried the link but I cant seem to get it to work. Please explain the play- doh method because the laser method seems time consuming and a pain in the ass.

I did the same as kroberts and got it perfect. Had to trim a bit cuz 1 3/4wasnt big enough or wtv size i used. I have a 1mm gap all the way around the puck.

Shoot mine look that good and I just put the sliders on and then put the plastics on and eyed up the location and went for it.

I also used the play-dough method - actually used plumbers puddy but same idea. Followed those exact directions and it came out perfect on both sides. Just make sure you use the proper hole saw for your exact sliders for a better fit. Low sided my f4i 5 days after finally installing the sliders and they saved my bike from a ton of rash.

Any ideas on how to fill the small gap around the sliders? Mine is abt 2mm thick all around the sliders.

You could probably get some sort of rubber gasket but I wouldnt worry about it.

You could also get some of the black mesh stuff like is used for window screens and just cut a hole to the exact dimensions of your slider and this could give you the illusion that the gap is filled....I dont know about this idea, just thought of it and have never done it but I would imagine it would work.

I would get that stuff that people use to put on the edge of a car door to protect it if you were to bump another car in black and use that or some people have used some type of gasket from Ace Hardware that looked like it worked pretty nice.

Buy a grommet thats your best bet. Will be tight against the fairings and smooth around the pucks

is it normal that right slider base rest on nut, not on frame like left one? and there is a gap (~5 mm) between slider base and frame :/

Thats right. The right one will, thus, stick out farther than the left. Then you know if you did it right or not. Looks good by the way.
