Inconsistency with Brake Pad Wear

Inconsistency with Brake Pad Wear
Just a quick question out of curiosity:
I took off my front right brake rotor to inspect the condition of the brake pads and I noticed that the one on the outside of the disc looked almost brand new while the one on the inner side of the disc was approximately half way worn. Is there a possibility that my brake rotor is somehow misaligned causing the one pad to wear faster or could it just be that the previous owner replaced one pad and neglected the other?
Thanks.

Any shakes up front? I just replaced mine and one side had it worn all the way to metal yet this was caused by vibration from the rotor eating the pad away.
If the piston's aren't moving freely either this will cause a issue as well. Since one side will get applied pressure vs the other side.
