Default Im New

Hi! Im Amanda.. I'm 20.. and I do not own a bike as of yet. I've been offered an extremely good deal on an 06 CBR 600f4i ($6,400 with only 597 miles on it)... and I want to buy it. But all my guy friends tell me not to cause they think i can't handle it, im too short, the bikes too heavey ext. I've ridden atvs etc for years.. so i understand clutch and shifting.. and even though i know i can get my permit and go riding before i take the motorcycle saftey course.. I wouldnt even dream of getting on a CBR until i took the course... Do you think im over shooting my limits... I know alot of people who have started on cbrs and are fine....

ehhh if your level headed i don't see why not :P How tall are you? And make sure to talk them down even more if you buy the bike because the 600 mile checkup bs junk your going to have to do.

I say if you are comfortable with the bike, fits well and is what you want, then go for it.

Buy it if you like it and feel like you can handle it. I normally do not recommend starting on a 600cc, but you can take the MSF course and learn. I started on a 250cc and moved up after a year and am probably just as tall as you....5'2".....

You shouldnt have any problems, youve been riding atvs for yrs your good to go its cake! I would say 90% of people short or tall start on 600's. Any one who buys a 250 just gets rid of it in a few months(if you ask me its a waste of money). If your concerned about the bike being to tall you can just buy a Lowering link they are cheap $40-$100 and you can lower it 2-3 inches if youd like.

GOOD LUCK!

Everyone that I know started out on a 6er and thats including girls. For one, it is a bit heaver than a 250r. The difference is 70lbs. However, when you are on the bike the difference not too noticable. Unless you get a bike that pushes over 450+lbs, than you might start to struggle.

One thing I dont understant is, why you are getting a new bike? Get a used one and spend the rest of the bike budget for fancy gear. Though Im hoping this would happen but you will drop your bike. Believe me, if you come out unhurt than next concern will be the bike and you will feel much better that you busted up a used bike instead of a new one.

My Girlfriend is on her first bike....it's an 01 R6. She handles it fine. It's lowered an 1" all the way around........the power isnt a problem. Women dont have the same mentality as guys so..........I wouldnt worry about that so much as being able to touch the ground. And, be prepared to drop it.....esp if you dont lower the bike right away. It'll happen. Once you're used to the bike itself you can raise it back up and be fine.
Good luck.....welcome and enjoy.

If you're totally fine with the idea, and are confident yet realistic with yourself you should be fine. Just don't get mad if you drop it a few times, lol. It'll happen.
