I'm embarrased I don't know this

What is this bolt, or rather, why does it stick out of our rear fairing? The manual calls it a 'setting bolt' but I feel like an idiot when people ask me what it's there for.

Hahaha! I'm embarrassed for you! n00b!

Okay, I don't have a clue myself.

It's there for attaching / securing things, like a storage net, luggage, etc. That's it. You could replace them with something flush if you want.

ahh

I haven't got one of those on mine and i have had some problems with securing nets on my bike. The bolt on mine is flush.

I have tried to search for a place on the web where you can buy one but with no luck....

Anyone know where it can be bought as a spare part?

Thanks guys. Makes sense that's all it is.

Commonly called the "frankenstein" bolt.

I prob have mine laying around here somewhere, there main purpose is to crack your knee on from time to time causing you to piss and moan about how pointless they are. :icon_biggrin: But if your really set on wanting some I'll see if I can find them (I may have been so pissed at them that I tossed em) I replaced them with this.

Yep, you can use an M6 bolt instead of the frankenstein bolt.

96shox 03-27-2012 02:04 PM

you can hang your helmet or use it as bungee cord mounting hook, etc

I actually ended up making a set from some bolts/nuts/washers for a couple bucks

It's there for mounting sissy bars and sports racks etc..
A standard front fairing bolt fits in nice and flush as a replacement and will match the rest of your bolts nicely rather than using a different one.
