Ignition diode!!

Someone please tell me they know exactly what i need and how to wire it, to drop the pink wire coming from the ignition from 12v to 9v before it hits the ecu... zener diode? Resistor? Both?

I would counter with this one, especially if you plan to shrinkwrap or wrap with tape.

Fully wrapped up, that 1/2W diode becomes a 200mW diode, as now its only means of cooling is conduction through the leads, rather than convection from the body. If that 1/2W diode were mounted in the open, such as on a PC board, it would likely be just fine (parts sourcing for specific electronic applications is what I do for a living).
