Idling Issues
After having some friends help me clean the injectors and replace the sparkplugs and clean the air filter, we noticed upon starting the bike idles at around 3k rpms. Unusually high.
However, when we were trying to adjust the idle via the turn-knob it completely fell out! We have a slight idea of where it goes thanks to the schematics on bikebandit however we have no idea how to reattach it. Is there any other way that I would be able to adjust my idle? Did we do something wrong for it to be idling so high? Thanks in advance, Viet |
Download the manual; it'll have better directions (LINK). That adjuster cable screws into the WAX unit, which is the auto-choke which determines RPM by coolant temperature. How did it idle once it reached operating temp? It should go down in RPM.
There was another fella around here that had a similar issue. Only his idled way higher than 3K. |
I think i saw the wax unit.. it idled around 2.5k I think normal temp is 1.3 or 1.2?
Any tricks to getting it back in? |
Since mine fell out, am i able to just do this mod and bring my idle down lower?

I think normal temp is 1.3 or 1.2? Any tricks to getting it back in? It's located under the FPR, under the fuel rail, left side. Although I didn't bother to actually see what the mod was, personally I wouldn't recommend it. To fix it properly, all you have to do is re-thread the screw; pretty easy to get it back the way it was. Kinda like the "if it ain't broke..." mentality, you know? Here's a good pic of the WAX. |
I think the mod just relocates the throttle adjust to where it was inptevoius years.
How the hell do I get the screw back there?! It's so cramped and a lack of space. We were trying to get it In there for a while with no luck |
i read about the mod and it looks like nothing but problems i would say just keep trying to get it back on there. it is tight-you could just try taking some parts off to get them out of the way
|
From what i understand you have to take off the throttle body to put it back on =(
|
ooooooooooo mine were hard to get off, good luck, and be patient!!! you do not want to break anything. but from what it sounds like if your idle goes down when its warm you could just wait a lil while to put it back on. at least till its warmer outside-depending on where you are
|
I'm in orlando. Its always warm =D. But i finally got the sucker back on.. and twisted it till it came out. Still couldn't get the rpms below 3...
any more ideas? |
