RE: Idle problem
hahaha well i actually did put too much oil in it car oil to be exact and thats because of a newb mistake not standing the bike up totally straight up to see the oil. I also took it to the shop got it fixed and they showed me i had 4 qtplus extra amounts in it they took out. They did a oil change checked all fluids and changed my oil filter they also tightened all my bolts and screws around the engine cover and oil holder since they were all loosecausing the leaking problem i had also the smoke from the oil dripping on the headers. Then test driving it around 223 the temp reaches when im at a light it just cuts off on me while in gear. I put it in neautral and it does the same. So i tweaked with the idle **** and now it idles at 1,000 rpm's steady. I test drove it just for a few and no problems as of yet i didnt let the temperature get that high though but tommorow im going to try riding it longer and see whats the problem. What is the correct idle a honda cbr 2002 f4i is suppose to be set at???After all of this can someone please diagnost my problem and tell me whats wrong??????? Does anyone out there know whats wrong with my bike????? Is it the Fuel Pressure regulator???? Or what else can it be???

RE: Idle problem
oh yeah and if this helps i never changed any fluids when i bought it used with 3,530 miles on it. The guy i bought it from well the COP i bought it from told me it just had a oil change and was all ready to go. I guess he didnt tighten the screws at all since they were all loose. Also before i took itto the shop i put extra car oil in it. My bike was shutting off before i put the extra car oil in it and after i put it in so maybe the original owner didnt tell me something i dont know what do you guys think you are the experts any advice????? i really would appreciate it.

You should adjust the idle to 1,200-1,500rpms AFTER the bike reaches a temp of about 180. If the bike is cold and you adjusted the idle to 1,000 then when it warms up the idle will drop and cause the bike to cut out.
