check the covers between your tank and side plastic, they look like the ones that attach that piece to the tank

The air intake cover screw that goes into the tank is different. It is metallic silver in color and larger in diameter.

i believe it is a truss screw for your lower fairing: the V shaped piece of plastic in front of the radiator. also known as SCREW, TRUSS (5X16) part number 90109-SB6-000. I have a stash of them in my garage. there's only 3 different type of screws that i know of on the F4i (but i'm sure there's more) : airbox, truss, and throttle body clamp screws. that is not a TB screw.

Hmmmmm. You might be on to something here. The screws left over are an exact match to the truss screws for the front inner fairing. But.... I have them all. Maybe. I have four screws in the truss and four body clips (90683-MBW-003). My service manual suggests that I might need 6 tuss screws (which require rubber flange nuts) and only 2 body clips.

Can anyone tell me what you have on your front inner fairing? Screw number -vs- clip number?

I believe you said there were only two screws like this on the front inner cowl. I may have erroneously discounted your theory based on this. If you are the first to tell me how many screws vs body clips connect the front inner fairing to the side fairings and the front fairing then you may indeed end up with the prize money......

thought of a couple more screws: map sensor screw? IAT sensor screw? def. not a velocity stack screw. there is a screw that goes into the top of the airbox that i always used to forget to tighten.

edit: there are 4 screws in the bottom inner cowl. 2 toward the top, 2 toward the bottom.

Are they the two screws that go above the fairings, on the plastics that attach to your gastank?
