i got a new tire..
found a flat in my garage this morning, oh well it was time.
after the socket hunt i take the wheel to the shop.
scince my front is brand new figured id match brands, find out that the tires are 315$ crazy! luckly they got a 30% off and free install if the wheel is off the bike deal so it turned out 275$
so i bit the bullet and got the dunlop sportmax d208gpA 180/55zr17 medium compund.
feels good, really good. goin on a ride tomorrow(you will see the helmetcam footage from the ride [sm=smiley20.gif] )test it fully.
so is this a good tire? i really hope so because it was the most expensive at the shop. lol

RE: i got a new tire..
Pretty ****ty price. I personally havent used a GPA but from what I understand it's not really a street tire. If you're doing track days it's probably fine, but it lacks stability and wet weather performance that makes a street tire better for the street. DOT race tires are meant to do one thing and that's stick like hell at full honk. On the street very few riders can even get a tire up to the proper operating temp, and if they can, they probably shouldnt be going that damn fast on dirty car infested roads anyway. That, and it wont last long.

haha what a rip off. they don't even make the dunlop 208 anymore, they replaced it with the dunlop qualifier. I paid 140 for the qualifier at my dealer, then 30 to have it mounted and balanced. 275 for that tire installed is ludicrous. You need to find a new dealer.

RE: i got a new tire..
He doesnt have the 208ZR. That is the cheaper tire replaced by the Qualifier. He has the 208GPA, the race spec tire. They cost quite a bit more and are meant for track day use only. They lack stability and rain qualities, they are meant to stick at max lean angle and not much else. They wont last long on the street, nor will they perform as good as you cant get them up to their operating temp. A qualifier or simular tire is a much better choice for street riding. If you're doing track days more than street riding that tire is a good choice.
