Default How to tell if I need a new chain..

My chain is slightly past the replace marker, but I have a +1 front sprocket and from what I have read it throws the measurement off a bit.
I'm not sure how to tell visually if I need a new one, but I have noticed recently that it is stretching quite fast. I tightened it a week ago and it already needs a touch up.

So, I am pretty sure I need a new one, but i'd like to confirm.

And what I really want to know, is am I ok to ride on it in this condition? I am hoping on doing a significant ride this weekend ~800km but am now not sure.

Next time you go to adjust your chain, or you got spare time. Just fully unloosen the adjuster bolt out on both sides. See how much spare room you got to adjust. If you got a bit, then you got more life left, if not. Consider getting a new chain soon.

So it's ok to keep stretching it?
I'm mostly concerned about safety if I go on this ride. I can tighten it and clean/lube it before I go but I am just not sure how the stretching works.

If you have a different sprocket then you might also have an aftermarket chain and if thats the case your factory markers are no longer good to you....as long as you have room to extend and tighten with the correct amount of slack I would say your good.

If you cant then its time to replace. I wouldnt personally wait till it gets close, maybe at least buy a new chain to have on hand when you need it. I would also replace the sprockets as well at the same time.

Don't worry about the stretching. As long as you see how much more adjustment room you have left, and if it's quite a bit, you don't need to worry about it. Just be prepared with a new chain if it starts running out of adjustment room.

also when adjusting if you have crazy tight and loose spots, then its time for a new chain

It's an RK aftermarket chain, put on by the previous owner.

Well that's good news, about not worrying about too much stretch. That means I can order a chain and sprockets online and be able to wait for deliver, rather than buy it at the stealer.
Thanks for the insight!
