RE: How to stay Sane through winter?
Saw This and thot I'd mention that I bought a jacket, pants and gloves that were meant for snow baording. THay are great it was bout 15deg the other day and I was almost sweating in this stuff. the long johns under neath were quit comfy and the pants don't look too bad if you are out in public and have to be seen. The main benifit to this setup is that it is totaly wind proof so you don't get a chil and the gloves have a cool little winshield wiper that works on your visor. I ride my cbr until it snows then I have a yamaha secaII (Trusty Rusty) that I'm willing to risk layin down in nasty weather. The whole set only cost bout 250 and it is multi purpose for me let me know if anyone wants the brand and Ill send the link.

It's hard to find stuff to do. I'm going stir crazy right now.
The summer is just so great. Everyday is the same. Ride all day, more people wanting to chill. It's like, there are only 4 friends I chill with in the winter, my really close friends. In the summer, you hang out with so many more people, everybody is always doing something, etc...
Ride, car cruises, girls, bonfires, beer, bbq's, etc... Winter is just lame.
I did beat God of War in 10 hours though. Bad *** game.

I came up with a good thing we can do to keep our interest in the bikes.... read. Read the manual that came with your bike so you can be more familiar with it, read magazine write ups on product reviews, look through the shop manuals... you might learn a few maintenance tips that will save you money. And if you read something that is new to you... share it with us in here. I just read a thread where some riders are riding on their tires until they are bald and then some. I thought everyone knew about the wear indicators, maybe they choose to ignore it, but it's there for a reason.

Yeah salt sucks but my bike isnt a trophy that I pamper every day. It is meant to be ridden. I wash my bike probably 4 times a year, who cares what it looks like. Also if you stay in the area where the cars tires drive through on the road, there is no chunky salt there. Rust takes a few years to really become a problem, and I dont plan on keeping my bike that long. Ill let someone else deal with the rust.

Arent you Midwest riders afraid of the affects of salt on the bike? I live in Milwaukee and actually seen a harley on the road but the salt is the size of rock candy on the roads. Never subject my bike to the salt here.

As I'm in the UK I get to ride all year round but it does get a little iffy in January with the cold and sometimes icy roads but you just have to control your wrist and cornering.
