How often should a CCT need replacing?

Hi everyone, my '04 F4i has just over 8k miles on it (I picked it up about two months ago with 6.8k miles on it) and I believe my CCT is going bad. In the earlier gears, right around the 5k - 5.5k mark it makes this god awful rattling sound akin to a bunch of plastic airsoft BB's being violently rattled in a plastic container. It goes away once I hit 6k - 6.5k or so and while I've read this isn't necessarily harming anything, the sound drives me insane and takes away from the sweet tone I get from my Yoshi. From all off my research, it seems that a manual CCT is the way to go but to be honest, I don't want to deal with everything that goes into setting/adjusting it and am just going with a brand new OEM replacement + gasket. My question is, how many thousands of miles can I expect to get before the noise resurfaces? I find it pretty ridiculous that a bike with this low of mileage already needs this replaced but hey, its 20 years old lol.

My guess would be gungy oil from standing too long unused and then ridden with the old oil still in.

If that is so then a good clean would do wonders without need for replacement.

Previous owner had an oil change done right before I bought it, would a more thorough type of flush be required for this?
