One of the last rides I went on it never creeped above 185 but it was 50 degrees out. One of the times I stopped at a stop light then continued, the temp dropped to 165 once I hit 55 mph again. I gotta stress though if I'm not on a twisty road I usually shift around 5.5k rpms or less, might be why I get such good mileage.
Ah, OK. That sounds similar to the performance I'm seeing then. I, too, tend to baby my F4i and shift about 5.5k - 6k. I've still never hit the rev limiter: My bike is solid, but it just seems like abuse to no good end.

Thanks for the clarification!

do you guys fill it up to the metal bar in the tank(which requires holding the nozzle up with your other hand)?

Yes, I fill it up to the metal bar. I see my friends that I ride w/ go one step further and hold there bikes upright to get those last couple drops of fuel into the tank.

I fill mine up to the bar as well, but I know I'm gonna be using half of it on that trip.

I sit on the bike in order to keep it upright when filling, brim the tank as much as is humanly possible and get a consistent 140-145 miles between filling and the reserve gauge coming on. When filling I then put somewhere in the region of 13.5-14 litres of fuel in to take it up to nearly spilling out again.

I only commute on mine, no fun/social riding.

I sit on mine while filling - like DonnyBrago explained. I get a solid 150 - 155 before I'm running on vapors...
