How Many Miles Can You go on a Full Tank of Gas?
#41
Ditto my 01, though it took a bit of Seafoam and love to get some mpg back. I'm going to run mine to the reserve bars this week because of this thread. I usually fill up about 110 because that's when the bars used to come on, but lately I've only been putting about 3.5g in when I do.

I've been getting anywhere between 40 and 50 mpg. Around 160 miles is when the reserve bars come on. I usually fill up around 100 miles and it costs me about 9 to 10 bucks at around 3.89 on average for gas. I did replace the air filter and spark plugs recently though and I cruise in 6th gear at 50mph and above.

I get about 50 mpg when I'm around town and highway cruising.
When I'm being quick I get about 35, but that may also have to do with the fact that my quick rides tend to have between 4,000 and 6,000 feet of elevation change over a single tank of gas.
01 F4i with 27k miles. Fresh air filter and recent oil change.

First, the tank holds 4.6 gallons, so filling 9-10 dollars worth at 3.89 certainly doesn't come close.
Second, even when the last bar runs out, you still have some fuel left.
Mind you I've hardly ever been able to get over 4 gallons in the tank, and when I did, it was pretty damn empty. Anyway, range = 80-150 ish depending. I'm sure you could get close to 200 miles if you took it really easy though. But that's not the point, is it?

I think you read it wrong. I know for a fact if I ride around 90 miles on a full tank it's around 8 dollars to fill it back up. That equates to 2.05 gallons roughly, multiply that by 45mpg which is probably average for riding like an old man and quick runs for me and you get 92.25 miles. The gas prices around here vary so much that I can't give you an accurate price on what I pay for 89 but I used 3.89 because that's what it costs at the station down the road from me. So yeah 200 miles to a tank sounds about right if my reserve kicks on when there's a little less than a gallon left which would be about 3.7 gallons and 166 miles using 45mpg as an average. With .92 gallons of reserve that's roughly another 41ish miles so if I wanted to push it to the limit I'd get about 200 miles to the tank. The most I've ever put in my bike was 15 dollars and the second to last bar on the reserve was blinking and I was at almost 180 miles. The reserve started blinking at 158 miles that day. Whether or not I would've made it to 200 idk but that's what I get. The bike runs extremely well, I weigh about 140 pounds and my tire pressures are never below 42psi rear and 36psi front. Also I fill my tank up above the little bar. Idk how much more fuel that equates too but that's what I get. Bike has almost 18k on it right now, runs at 178degrees at 55 mph unless it's below 60 degrees out the it runs around 175. The lowest my reserve ever kicked on was 80 miles and the air filter was the dirtiest I've ever seen.

Even here in Vegas I'm just now running about 190 on the freeway when it's ~85F out. Any kind of stop and go and I'm at 220F for sure.
I've been using distilled water + Water Wetter + coolant, but my bike still runs a little hotter than I'd like.

I get about 150 miles before the reserve comes on, then I have about 25 miles to get to a station. I drive 110 miles round trip, 5 days a week. My drive consists of about 70% highway/30% city. Temp stays around 174 degrees, unless stopped in traffic, it'll jump to about 220ish.
I've had it from a full fill up, to the last blinking bar on the reserve at 178 miles.

In the summer if it's above 80 degrees on the highway I see about 180 to 190 degrees usually. Stop and go traffic, 30mph zone or if I'm close enough behind someone to be in their slip stream at any less than 45 mph and my bike will hit 225 degrees. One of the last rides I went on it never creeped above 185 but it was 50 degrees out. One of the times I stopped at a stop light then continued, the temp dropped to 165 once I hit 55 mph again. I gotta stress though if I'm not on a twisty road I usually shift around 5.5k rpms or less, might be why I get such good mileage.
