How to install cheap LED relay on your f4i

First off I am a poor student, and I don't have much money so I am looking more about cheap, functional and good quality instead of easy to install complete package that other company offer with their premium price. Please read on if you are after the same sort of thing. Oh also my English is terrible so bare with me here:icon_knight:

I had installed LED indicators on my F sport(F4I) because my idiotic friend decided to reverse into me when we were touring in Germany.

The problem I had is the silly fast indicator flash, I have got pulled over a few time because they think one or two of my indicator was gone and its "unusual".

After a bit of research and with my previous experience dealing with these LED relay, instead going with "ready to fit" one for £12.80

I went with these, universal ones £1.19, posted.

Reason simply because I used to LED indicators +relay and the relay tend to break every few months, may be just bad luck for me but 1/10 of the price what have i got to loose.

So heres the deal:
you will need, the relay, a couple of heat strink, a small (tiny) allen key or some poking device, and side cutters

1. locate the relay on your F4i, and remove the plug. I turn the bars to the left, full lock and fish my hand through, it was the first big lump next to the right headlight. Pull backwards to remove.

2. use the tiny allen key to expose the plug wiring(the only two that connected to the relay), it should look like this

3. modify the relay plug with side cutter, just cut vertically at the centre, towards the circle;

4. (OPTIONAL) The relay I received came with a annoying beep sound when the relay is active, much like the ticking in car; I opened mine up and removed them.
It took me a while to figure out, I almost thought the relay was junk and my bike was going to blow up with that beeping noise.

5. I filled the edges with silicone lube, and put the 90degree rubber mounting from the stock relay on

Back to the bike:
6. test the wire by pugging the relay into those two which used to connect to the old relay; if the indicator stays on instead of flashing, swap them around. Make sure the connector have firm connection.

7. Heat strink them so they are isolated properly

8. I have put a bit of tape around the old connector and the relay to make it more neat, then just carefully put the relay back. Test again if it works and ride

I hope this will help, especially for those with minds like me who want functional and knowing all these expensive specific F4i relay is the same thing with fancy packaging aiming to separate your hard earned cash from you.:icon_dance-twist:l
