how hard is it to take off the front fairing?
I took off the bottom fairings last night to de-sticker the bike and it was surprisingly easier than I thought it'd be.
Now I gotta do the front fairing, cause I want to get it painted black.
Looking at it, it looks pretty easy... couple bolts and disconnect the turn signals. I don't have to mess with the headlights at all do I? How easy is it and can you ride with it off?

taking it off... no problem. putting it back on... get ready for stress. If your bike is like mine where you got lotsa stuff in there like HID ballasts,etc.... you'll be getting really frustrated because the front fairing will only go back on together if you put everything together at the precise spots. One one misplaced and a certain tab or screw won't be able to go in.

Do you have regular manual for the bike? It will have the steps to take it off, and then you just perform those steps backwards to put it back on. Pat attention to what you are taking off as you are going along to help when you put the stuff back. I had my wife help me hold things is place when I putmine back together. I don't think I would have been a very happy person if I had done it myself. Get a freind to help you when you are ready.

The bike will not even start when the upper fairing is removed. The head light assembly is removed as part of the upper fairing.Pay close attention to how it comes off. There are two prongs protruding from the back of the headlight assembly that insert into two rings on the bike(you'll see what I mean) make sure they line up when reinstalling, also the ram air ducts will have sagged down and will have to be wiggled into place. Hope this helps. I had mine off recently and didn't find it too bad.
Oh, one more thing, an extra pair of hands really help. If not have a tv table at the ready to set the fairing on while you disconnect the electical connection

here is a link for the manual. 492 pages. Tells you how to dissassemble the entire bike, inside and out.
