I'mfortunate that I have a heated garage so my bikestay'shere with me. The winters here are getting pretty short (only stored 3 months last season) so I don't need to do much. I put it on it's jack stands not because I worry about flat spots but because it actually takes up less room on them being up-right and against the wall. If it needs an oil change it gets one, full tank of gas with a dash of fuel saver, cleaned to a luster, the battery tender clipped on, and the dust cover put on.

When it gets cold here in VA I add gas stabalizer so it wont freeze, put it on stands, and cover her up.

But if it didnt get cold ....---->60 deg. I would be riding!!!!!!

Fuel gels up or gets funky in other ways, freezing doesn't happen to gasoline unless you get to maybe 100 degrees below zero.

its more like 200 something below zero haha, yes fuel stabilizer does keep it from gelling up or getting old, thats why having a full tank is just as good because theres no air to make it go bad.

The way I heard it is the fuel goes bad without stabilizer is different than the problem solved with the full tank. I believe the fuel breaks down and creates new funky stuff on its own, hence the term stabilizer. The full tank issue is to reduce the head space in the tank that can expand and contract that will bring water and moisture into the the fuel system. Fuel in the carbs will gel up, and that is wothout venting, I would assume that gas in the tank will be affected in much the same way.

So I guess the answer is a full tank with stabilizer to solve the gel and water issue.

You are correct.

Well i just put her in the basement, she fit thru the door from the garage to the basement luckily.

Ill take her for a ride once i get home from work but once it starts getting too cold i will buy fuel stabilizer and make sure she's full.

8. Do not start the bike unless you are going to bring all the way up to operating temperature. If not you
will get moisture build up in the motor and exhaust.
That's what I've been told: Starting it up for 5 minutes and then turning it off is worse than not doing anything at all. You are just warming it up enough to promote condensation of water vapor but not warm enough to burn it off.

Ill probably take it around the block or something, i can start it and let it get up to temp but ive been told its so much better with a load on, ill just take it out for a good ride if its above freezing so my tires will have SOME traction haha
