personally i would wait and change the oil at the begining of next season if you don't plan on riding it. also if you ever leave it sitting for more than a month, always use a fuel stabalizer to keep the gas from leaving a residue on the inside of the tank and carb or fuel injection. that way you don't have to worry about your gas going bad cause its good for up to 2 years i think and you can still ride it whenever you want.

there's plenty of googling you can do for winterizing your bike, plus 50-60 degrees to me is hardly end of season. But then I can't say I've been riding lately... [8D]

other than that if you aren't gonna ride,

fuel stabilizer in tank
battery tender (if you want) and then store
wash your bike

huh guys its 60 degrees at like 5 oclock haha, being a full time auto tech im usually EXHAUSTED enough riding it home as it is, i don't ride much besides weekends. I put 1200mi in 2month as a beginner rider so i'm happy with that. I do plan on possibly taking it out for a ride once or twice a month, id leave the battery stored or charge it at work if i need. The only thing i'm really concerned about is my really humid/damp basement. I use super (even though tons of youguys say not to use it haha) and will make sure its full if i decide to store it. Its going to get around 40 or so in the morning, ive riden when its 48, 15mi to work and my finger tips started getting a bit too cold with these a* gloves.

Recap- if stored more then a month (very good posibility)
-Full fuel tank
-Battery tender w/ battery out of the bike

It has synthetic oil in it and does look a bit blackish but i know thats a good sign for synthetic, i might just ride it now and then for 15-20min unless its too cold that my tires wont grip.

Thanks for the help guys, anymore tips feel free for us noobs haha

1. Wash & wax
2. Clean and lube chain
3. Battery Tender (I don't bother removing the battery, some people do)
4. Some people put the bike up on stands. I don't. But I do keep the tire pressure at its maximum
allowable pressure to avoid flat spotting. Don't know if it's really neccessary but I do it anyway.
5. If mice are a problem set traps and plug exhaust outlet.
6. Fill gas tank and add fuel stabilizer.
7. Cover
8. Do not start the bike unless you are going to bring all the way up to operating temperature. If not you
will get moisture build up in the motor and exhaust.

I get a chuckle reading this. In Florida, riding season starts in October / November. It's too damn hot and humid to ride here in the summer.

$170.00 for a charger is pretty steep IMO. That's pretty much the same as this.

and this

I use a el-cheapo 2 amp charger that turns off/on when the charge hits a certain point..It also has a red light when charging and green light when fully charged....IIRC, I think it turns on @ around 12.4V and off @ around14 volts....
I have used it on my riding mower for4 years now and have had no problems in the spring time...(It will probably need to bereplaced next year)I'll probably spend the extra $20 for my bike and upgrade to one of these smart chargers that give it the "float charge".. IMO, the cheaper and slower the charge the better.
