Honda cbr f4i power commander map issue

Hey...I just installed a full M4 system, already have bmc race filter, PCIIIusb. I can't find a map on the dynojet website for a 2001 f4i with full M4 and have tried a few with no luck so far. Has anyone with the same gear as I have had luck with any of them? I am hopping someone has a custom map or a suggestion for one that will work well with what I have installed. I will eventually try them all and hopefully find a good one however any help would be appreciated. I wish there was a site where people could upload and download PC maps...I would even pay to be a member...Cheers...

Oh...and anyone tried the accel pump? If so what settings did you use?? thanks

nor_cal_cbr 05-12-2009 10:39 AM

I use the accel pump program and noticed an increace in throttle response...I tried 90% Sensitivity 15% Fuel Increase 20 Engine Revolutions...i havent played around with the variations yet though..let me know what you try...

I am going to pull the bike out soon and try some different settings...I will keep you posted. Anyone else try others or have any suggestions for maps? thanks Andy

honestly i would just go with one of there full system maps cause the just general maps of that exhaust, if you want the goods from your exhaust(most HP) custom is the only way

yeah you are right...I will get one eventually. It is a question of money at the moment as they are in or around 300$ to have a custom map done. I find it a bit pricy however it does require specialized equipment ie: dyno, sniffer etc...to create a good map so for now I will have to wing it...I just put in the full hindle map in and it seems to run pretty good...Always room for improvement...cheers...

02f4irider 05-12-2009 09:14 PM

ya you can run the hindle, kerker, micron, or arka. i would run a different map everyday to see which one you like best(the may be alittle difference between them)

Well so far I tried the following...some positive and some negative:

Akrapovic was ****...spit and sputter in every gear
Kerker was not bad however did not pull hard in low and high rpm
Arata was good top end and sucked bottom end
Micron not sure yet
Full hindle was good and I am running that at the moment..still room for improvement.
Arrow can't remember...will try again...
I will keep trying them and let you know what I think...

Pump accel is set to 90 sens...20 rpm and 17% fuel...seems ok..however I want to nail the map down first....I find this very hard and very frustrating and time consuming...Wish i had a dyno because there are so very many variables...Humidity ans such...Very hard to tell by just driving...Anyways..cheers and thanks for the comments...

Is the accel or any other functionality worth upgrading to a USB from a PC IIIr?

purpleslug 05-14-2009 02:35 PM

what does the pump excel do anyway i was going to read on it for mine

Well the pump accel from what I can tell adds fuel at a certain RPM. I have been reading up and some say they notice a difference and I have not noticed that much of a diff...Maybe a bit more juice when you floor it. It is free and I say why not...I like it and will keep playing with it. I will try to make it to a dyno very soon to get a custom map done...I wonder if the accel pump would make a difference on the dyno?? Cause on a dyno when they do it they turn the throtle progressively therefore I don't think the accel pump would even be a factor...I may be wrong..Anyone have any thoughts on this?? Cheers.....

A custom dyno tune in my area is onlt $150 and this guy knows his stuff too. I'll be going to him once I install my arrow header

Nice...Your lucky...cheapest around here is 250-300$. I almost bought an arrow header however the m4 was brand new full and the arrow was used and off a race bike. I hope to save up some cash and have a custom map done. I just realized my tire is almost toast and that will have to come first...I put a set of Bridgestone BT-021 and thought they would last however I do believe i only got 4000-5000kms...that's around 3000 miles for my US counterparts...I figured I would get way more than that with a dual compound sport touring tire right??? I figured I would get at least 8-10 000kms or at least 6000miles...I am not sure what to try next...bike shop is telling me to try michelin pilot road...however they are quite pricy...what do you guys think? Cheers...

The guy that offers cheap dyno rates is a member of our local forum (www.ohio-riders.net) so he hooks us up. I believe I bought the arrow header you were going to buy off the race bike. Bought it froma a member on here off his bike. I just got the header and midpipe since I wanted to use my 2 bros carbon can. for the price I paid for it, I couldnt come close to buying a new header only. As for Tires, I highly recomend Dunlop Roadsmarts. Dual compound sport touring. They handle well and stick like glue in the turns. I am a hard rider in the twisties and use every inch of the tire. I have probably 3000 miles on them and they still look new. Check them out you wont be dissapointed I promise. My buddy even put them on his zx-14 and he has no problems with them either

Lamar Vannoy 05-15-2009 12:18 PM

The PC IIIr does not support the accel pump so I cannot use it. I believe it just goes extra rich for a second or two when you crack open the throttle really quick. My Power FC used to do that for my car.

I need to setup a time to go see Brian for tuning as well....

andymp3 05-15-2009 12:34 PM

Well...I just got home from the bike shop and they convinced me to go with the new Michelin pilot road IICT...Guy told me most guys were getting 15 000km and some even got 19 000kms....sorry where are my manners...for my US friends....well close to 11 000 miles...I have been searching through quite a few forums and these numbers seem to be legit. I paid a premium for them however for the amount of KM's or miles;) It is worth it. I did get them on sale for 207$ cdn taxes in...Was told the usual retail is over 300$Cdn..Would I have saved if I went over to the US to pick them up? Just curious...thanks

andymp3 05-15-2009 10:12 PM

So what kind of HP numbers should I be seing with a full system, bmc race filter and a PCIIIusb? I dyno'd 99 last year with a slip on and not a full system. It was also a dowloaded map and the humidity was like 98%. Guy told me on a good day I should have seen somewhere around 102hp. Now with a full system I wonder? the books say i should see a 8-10% gain with the full system. So I hope to hit 106-108hp and that would most likely have to be with a custom map...What do you guys and girls think? Just curious...

xtremef4i 05-18-2009 07:37 AM

I think 102-103 would be best on a properly calibrated dyno WITH a custom dyno tune. In April, mine dynoed at 97.1, my mods are about same as yours before full system. I asked the guy id heat had anything to do with getting a better tune or dyno result and he said not really. I have been told when dynos start to get out of whack or stray away from proper calibration, that the dyno readings show on the high side. Honestly, I think, you wont see over 105 real bwhp WITH a proper tune.

It was not the heat that was the issue and the dyno was not the issue. If I understand you correctly you are saying the dyno may have been reading improperly because of the heat. I was saying it was the bike itself that was being affected by the humidity. Did you not notice the bike works better when it's cold outside and when the humidity is low? That is what the dyno guy meant. That day it was very hot and very humid that day. In turn my bike made less horsepower. On a cooler day with less humidity he said I should see a few more hp...maybe 1 or 2..This guy had a dynojet dyno with a sniffer. It was not one of those that give elevated numbers...He is actually one of the lowest hp dyno's in town...there are a few that are giving like 10hp more in town....we all stay away from those...My bike produced 99 hp that day so you may be right however I hope you are wrong! lol! :p....When i do get it done i will put up the numbers...i may even try to scan the original sheet in...I am pissed thought...i can't find the original dyno sheet with the 99hp run...I tore apart the whole house....anyways...thanks for the info...cheers man...
