Default higher flow air filter make the bike run less rich?

anyone have any experience with this one? bike seems to have allways ran rich.
maybe a sensor somewhere could be not operating, resulting to a default fuel map?
not sure what to do, but if it runs rich and if there is a higher flow air filter, i would imagine it would balance it out and result in more power than stock.??

in theory it should. but from experience, can't tell the difference. you could try swapping your ecm for a CA version and install an O2 sensor. i've been thinking about this mod.

If your bike is stock and running rich then fix whatevers broken. If its modify'd then get a tuner like a power commander and tune it correctly. Air filters don't give any measurable gains on f4i's.

its stock besides a d&d slip on, i wouldnt imagine that making it run rich, has a new FPR, and fuel pump.
if i had the stock muffler i wouldnt mind it changing back. the d&d makes it loud, maybe too loud, dunno how often they have db meters at tracks.
probably not that loud though. i can't think of anything else unless it has to do with a sensor, or ECU.
oddly enough it quit idleing at 3k rpm on start up since the FPR was replaced and after it shot fuel through the exhaust, but it ran rich before that.

slip on won't make it run very far off, not enough to notice at least. Have you changed the spark plugs since purchasing the bike? Also have you checked the valve clearence? Perhaps the bike just needs a tune up....

i did check the plugs and they were blackish, it has been sitting forever, i tried to clean the plugs a bit, they are in good shape other than the color.
the valves were checked 10,000 miles ago, the book says every 16k miles, it has 20k miles on it.
the valve adjustment seems pretty horrible because there is shims involved and i never delt with that before, the "hold the nut and turn the screw" style is much easier whichever that is.
however i assume i don't need to actually need to remove the camshaft to inspect them. with shims evidently you need to remove the cam's to adjust.
