HID Timers

Did a search, and it came up with nothing :(

So heres a question to those that run HIDs on the low headlight, do you guys use any timers to activate the hid?

mine just turn on when the key is on...never had a problem...even if i leave them on without the bike running for like 3 mins it still starts up quickly...

Ditto. In the long run it may affect the life of your ballast with coming to full power then flashing off and on again right away, but I've had mine installed for over two years with no issues. And with how cheap HIDs are these days, I don't see why it'd matter anyway, as long as it lasts a year or two.

Agreed with above.. I haven't had any problems with mine either.. Plus with a timer if you don't start your bike right away the lights are going to come on anyways.. You may get talking with some one or get distracted by something else =)

I added a relay that keeps if from coming on till the bike is running, look in the how-to forum.

Thanks for the info :icon_wink:

I might change my plans, and just go with HIDs on the high beam...

Decisions decisions :icon_shrug:

That's silly. Sure it's brighter, but HIDs need warm-up time to get to full brightness. Plus what if you want to just flash someone for misc reasons?

Just my opinion. I run HID low and halogen high because I use my high beam frequently for things other than riding down dark back roads.
