HID question

Hey guys i have a HID question im still learning about them so sorry if this is a dumb question

It said in the manual that my 01 F4i had a halogin headlight 12v 55w H4 bulbs

Is this HID can i just put some white bulbs in their to get a betterview of the road at night?

Or do i still need to buy the HID kit to get optimum night time viewing?

Cheers

The stock lights are halogeon bulbs, but are NOT HID's. A full HID kit can be pricey. I would recommend just getting a set of Sylvania Silverstar Ultra's. These are regular halogeon bulbs but much brighter.

Ahhh so i can just throw them in with out any modding?

Will their be any addition drain on the battery or anything i need to worry about?

Silverstar bulbs are direct replacement, no modding.

$39.99!! thats the price of a DDM Tuning HID kit. Stay away from that junk. I just put in the HID kit and it is AMAZING.... I mean bright as the freakin SUN. .......... Plug and play, no cutting or splicing. Hardest part was hiding the ballast, entire install took 30 mins, only thing you have to remove is the windscreen. I went with 35w 6000k H7 bulbs. Will post up some pics later.

BTW F4i bulbs are H7 type.

You can get a true HID kit from ddmtuning, or the one that i've had the best luck with, xentec. xentec is DOT approved. If you do go with HID's, i would just install the low beams and use a PIAA bulb for your highs. When you use your highs, you want instant brightness. With any HID, you have to wait for them to warm up to their full brightness. Everyone here can only give you their opinions but you have to make the choice of what to get.

^^ that is my ONLY gripe, that the hi-beam takes a few seconds to warm up, but its only a few seconds. Once on and warm you can flip it on or off and works instantly.
The DDM kits comes with 2 HID bulb kits, with the HID hi-beam you can literally see for miles down the freeway at night. Very impressive.

Sick97SS, where did you hide your ballast. I'm thinking about getting some of these.

Aslo, is it H7 35w for both low and high beam? or H7 35w low, H7 55w high?
