Default help...strange scenario

the previous owner of my bike replaced the trunk lock with one that takes a different key, then lost it. [:@]

can i replace it without having a key to remove the seat? It currently has a stock fender. I already found that a new lock costs about $24 from the dealer.

iwon't have the cash for an undertail for at least a few weeks so i don't want to hack up the fender too bad.

any help is appreciated. thanks.

take off your main seat, use a coat hanger to reach up inside where the lock release is and pull the cable with the coat hanger

are u sure he replaced the trunk and not the ignition? sometimes stolen bikes will replace ignition and sometimes the frame and the trunk key wont work, not probably but something to consider

oh crap. i'm really wondering now.

there is a wire harness near the ignition swith that iswrapped in electrical tape but the tape is peeled back a little in one spot and i can see a little bare wire where the insulation looks to have been shaved off or something.

I bought this bike with a clean title and financed throughmy credit union. Could a bike be stolen, then recovered and still have a clean title???

okay....the wires aren't as bad as i thought. I peeled back the tape some more to see the damage.

only the red / black striped wire has the insulation stripped. Is this a sign of being stolen?

Everything on the bike appears completely stock except the keys don't match like i said and it has a vortex non-locking gas cap. Thanks for any insight.
