Help please. Bike won't start!
 

Hi Everyone. I'm a new rider, and have a 01 CBR 600 F4i.

Been riding it for about a week now with little to no problems, however after spending about 3 hrs riding it today, I brought it back to my place since I have to get ready to go out tonight.

As I was trying to squeeze between my car and the center pillar of my garage, I let out the clutch too much with not enough throttle and the bike stalled. problem now is the bike wont start.

every time I hit the kill switch (or turn it off completely) and try to start it up again, the hud goes blank and the bike never starts. It wont even try to start it just dies and the hud resets as if the ignition has just been turned on.

I noticed the oil level is above half way, but I don't know if that would be the problem.

Please any help would be much appreciated.

It's got nothing to do with stalling the bike. Sounds like your battery's dead. Will the starter turn the engine over at all? Get yourself a battery maintainer/charger.
On a side note, don't use your kill switch to turn off the bike. Just turn the key to off instead.

You can use the switch if you just want to kill the engine temporarily. Or if you don't want to remove your hand from the clip on yet. There's no harm in it. Just don't forget to turn the key off.

thanks for the help guys. I was was thinking its the battery as the engine was turning, I don't think it was the starter since I didn't hear it clicking.

I'm going to leave it overnight to see if the battery gains a charge, and pick up a trickle charger in the morning.

do you know if the battery for is sealed or unsealed?

Your battery isn't going to gain a thing from sitting around.

You can try jump starting it from a car. That will tell you if it's the battery right away.

But make sure the car is NOT running. You could also push start it.

Is the bike still in gear/ kickstand down?

nope. tried every combination to start it. Kickstand down in neutral, kickstand up in neutral, in first with clutch engaged, off then on. Nothing seems to be working.

After letting it sit overnight, it's making a different sound now. Yesterday there would be a click, and the hud would reset. Now there's a series of clicks (similar to when a car's battery is dead - hud still resetting). I'm sure now that the voltage on the battery is too low.

The thing that's a little confusing is that there doesn't seem to be any affect on the head lights (usually with cars batteries dying headlights and such go dimmer). Thats not the case. Another possibility I am thinking is that, it could be the spark plugs since the engine isn't attempting to turn.

any thoughts on that?

btw, I didnt realize you could start a bike by pushing it like a car. Makes sense though. Would it have to be in 2nd with clutch engaged? Dont think i can do that anyway since the bike is 400+ lbs and I'm a smoker :icon_pimp:

I think you're overcomplicating a simple issue, haha. Just get the battery charged up and see what happens. You're not going to destroy your bike by stalling it in the driveway. Any mechanical problems would've given a sign before head (at least in my experience).
