help needed with painting(type-not color) advise
Ok to make it simple, i want to paint my frame and swingarm and wheels,
it will be disassembled, except for the engine. im wondering if spray paint would work, i know it would look good for about a week after i did it, but would it hold up. from my reasearch its about the spray paint just cant get hard enough, unless you get the right stuff
does anyone have any advice based on experience? or could lend any help? if i went spray paint route i found some rustoleum primer that says it should work well, then vht engine enamel, followed by a rustoleum wheel clear that supposedly gets super hard. would this work and hold up ok?
or is my only option powder coat?
thanks for the help in advance

Powder coating is great, because it dries so hard...If you want to do-it-yourself, rent a hvlp (high volume, Low pressure) sprayer from home depot, or air compresor and cup gun. Spray it with a proffesional automotive primer and paint. With this method you can control the hardener and drier as you wish...Spray a small peice of "scrap metal" first, for sample. Follow instructions on paint can and you'll be alright. Carefull with hardener, usually you have about 30 min. to spray after you mix the stuff. So, mix only what you need.
I was a pro. painter for 15 years. Any questions send me a message. I used a satin black and stickers on my bike until I finish the mechanics. I did all body work myself. Bought it as a project, cuz I was bored and I Luv bikes!

check out this article that zmd posted in a thread it could be helpful
http://bayarearidersforum.com/forums...pray+paint+gun
and you can also have paint put in an aerosol can for you if you go to the right body/paint shop and even possibly mixed with the hardeners and if you paint your frame and wheels right after it should be just as durable as a professional job
