I am looking at 2 bikes on CL right now. This will be my 2nd bike (first being a 99 F4). I am a casual city rider putting on about 2,000 miles per year in Michigan, but I do like to open up the throttle on the back roads from time to time!

Anyhow, I am pretty much ready to pull the trigger on one of these two bikes and I'm really not sure which way to go. From my research there isn't ALL that much new between the two of them so I'm inclined to go with the f4i since it's cheaper, but I'd like to get your opinions on which is the better deal. (PICTURES ATTACHED)

* 2001 Honda F4i
* 8,000 miles clean title (not sure if theres any sprocket effecting miles, i'll have to check but for now lets assume theres not on either of these).
* clean title
* Physically/cosmetically seems to be in very good shape
* paint job i like (white and black scheme)
* not sure if there's any after market mods
* Price: $2500

Next Bike:
* 2006 600RR
* 15,000 miles
* clean title
* physically/cosmetically appears to be in very good shape
* plain black paint with some red all the way around (to me it's not bad, but nothing fancy)
* Mods consist of: Power Commander V, Jardine slip-on, Air filter, Adjustable levers, Flush mount front markers, Integrated rear tail, Tinted windscreen, Lowering link.
* Price: $3500

I refuse to buy bikes that have been repainted. If you're willing to spend $3,500 I would get an f4i that hasn't been molested

 

has only some of the f4i been chromed or is it polished aluminum? everything that is shiny should be black. and if it was chromed was it spray paint or why is only portions of the frame and wheel done.
also the exhaust should be a high mount, that current set up may be loud.

 

the RR doesn't look like a bad deal.

Why not check both out! Ask them to take the fairings off and check everything out, a lot is hidden by shiny metal and colorful paint. I like 05-06 RRs so my opinion is pretty biased.

 

I'd go with the f4i, more comfort and reliability. Plus f4i parts are a dime a dozen and much better for longer commutes and trips

 

F4i 8k and lower insurance. a sprocket kit will take care of any power difference

 

i vote f4i. though it is older in years but has about half the mileage of the RR

 

RR for sure. They've both been molested but the RR is a much cleaner bike. Buy it and get rid of the lowering. The f4i has been painted and the frame/swingarm polished. On an aprilia it looks good, on an f4i its ghetto.
