height adjustment
Does anybody know of you can adjust the highth on a 02 f4i?? I.want to raise it up a little higher....

Front? No. Rear? Yes its easy. You put some steel washers in between the frame and top shock mount. The stud goes through a cross bar and a nut secures it. I've heard the earlier F4i's had a short stud for the shock mount and require the later mount with a longer stud.

Sweet, thanx!!

You can also cut the bolt off the OEM mount, drill a hole in it, and use a longer bolt if yours is too short.
I ran a single spacer for a while and you can cut a notch in it so you only have to make a little space for it and slide it in. I wonder though if there is a possibility of the shock spinning if you put several washers in. Might wanna weld them to the mount if so. You can also add a little bit of height by running a 190/55 instead of a 180. Curious as to why you want to raise the front and rear? |
He could want to raise the bike to get more cornering clearence. I don't suggest using a 190 rear tire unless its a dunlop race slick that is designed for a 5.5" wide rear rear. Street 190's are designed for 6" rear rims. I have 3-4 washers between my shock mount and frame and have about 18,000 miles on it that way with no shock movement yet.
