Heated Grips installed - HELP
 

I purchased some heated grips from ebay, the oxford Heaterz grips (great reviews) http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/OXFOR...#ht_9417wt_843


The install was a breeze, hardest part was hiding the wiring. They look and feel great, love the temp control module and everything about them. I have one, SERIOUS issue.

When the grips are cold the throttle is very sticky (whatever position it is in, it stays there), but when I turn the heated grips on for a minute and they come up to temperature, no issues, throttle feels great and no sticking. I need serious help, I love these things, but I cannot have a stuck throttle. I have ridden with them for about 2 hours on and off, they MUST be on, at least the 40% setting for the throttle not to stick.

-Yes I used a small bead of glue on the inside of the grip
-No there is no runny glue anywhere, I even ran the inside and outside of the grip (in relation to the handlebar) with a razor to try and cut through any residual glue.
-The stickiness is just enough to hold the grip in place, it is not GLUED into place where I cannot move it

What should I do? How sensitive is the throttle tube? Time for a new throttle grip?

I would appreciate any help.

Checked all my wires today, nothing is grabbing or catching, everything zip tied nice and loose.

Is it possible some grip glue worked its way into the throttle tube and its caught up? How come everything is perfect is the grips are nice and warm...?

I dont know if you replaced the tube, but you might anyways since its plastic it expands and contracts a lot due to heat. This is my guess. Try adjusting your throttle cables either at the grip itself, or at the throttle bodies themselves.

Do you have bar ends? When I swapped out my grips (non-heated), I experienced the same thing where the throttle would stick. If you have bar ends, try loosening them a bit.

I just replaced my grips, used gorilla glue (2 drops) to stick the grips to the tube, and lubed up the bar and tube with bearing grease before i slid the tube back on. Much smoother than before. Sounds like there is a dab a glue inside the tube that gets sticky when cold and loosens up when the heat is turned up.

Seems like my only hope is to yank this gorgeous heated grip off?? Damn....You guys sound right. Glue or new throttle tube seem necessary.
