Heal Guards Question

4 Attachment(s)
Hey guys and gals,

I'm a Mechanical Engineering Technology major at Oklahoma State and for one of my classes we are using all the techniques for manufacturing like rapid prototyping with a 3-D printer, welding, laser jets, CNC, cast molding, etc.

For my cast part I have decided to make my own heal guards. I attached some photos of them. I will have to paint them myself.

The question I have is that I am wondering what size bolts hold the guards on? I don't have the tools to take it apart and measure the bolt size.

Also tell me what you think about my design, maybe is there are any other OSU fans out there and interested Ill see if my prof will let me make more.

Thanks

Parts 19 and 22... Not sure why they're different lengths. But 6MM screws.

hey i was a MET major myself.... what modeling system u guys using? doesnt look like pro-e or unigraphics

as for your question... take a bolt out of ur guard and go to ur local hardware store they should have a bolt sizing thing that u can screw it into and itll well u the size

Very nice job. That rapid prototyping is great stuff.

We use 4 types of software. basic to advanced. AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Pro-E, and CATIA.
I like using all but AutoCAD.

The one I used is SolidWorks

yea we learn autocad, inventor, pro-e, and unigraphics

big one here is proe since we have the cat hq here and thats what they use for the most part... komatsu uses unigraphics

but i took 4 years of acad in hs and 2 more in college and ends up thats what i use at my job now as a cad tech at a MEP arch. engineering firm

I wanna go into Aerospace and they all use CATIA, the rest use pro-E and SolidWorks.

They would be different lengths because, at least on my 01 F4i, the right side hold the brake master cylinder.

I was looking for the diameter of the screws. I have them I just cant take them off right now.

Can you make any OU ones? Lol j/k I graduated OU '09 in mechanical engineering also. That's a pretty cool design, flame tips look like they may hurt a little though. My F4i is at my parents house but I'm going out there tomorrow so I can get you the measurements for the bolts.
