Default Heading south! 750 mile trip this weekend any pointers?

Hey guys, I'm a noob here- heading to mile marker 0 (Key West) this weekend (~ 750 miles). This is my first road trip and looking for some pointers. Unfortunately, I have no saddle bags so I'm going to be using my Northface Terra 45 pack. Any suggestions?

Gold bond powder to prevent walking like a cowboy Good luck -- haven't ridden that far yet, much less with a pack...ugh my back hurts thinking of that. Want to take a ride to the keys sometime, but for me its much shorter.

I'd invest in a Hydration pack if I were traveling that far. And probably some bar risers.

A pointer would be get a tail bag and ditch the backpack. It will kill you not long into your trip having that thing on your back. Just make sure to take frequent breaks because once you start hurting it wont stop. So is this 750 round trip or one way?

Earplugs, Cruise control, Cell phone (obviously), Tire plug kit and some comfortable underwear. You don't want a wedgie for 750 miles.

I don't know how much your carrying on your back but a tail pack makes things 1000 times more comfortable if there's much weight to it.

+1 to ditching the backpack for a fixed bag, ear plugs, and cruise control. I assume you're taking 95?? That's a lot of straight riding before you hit the keys!!

Not to hijack the thread but I'm doing a ~300 mile trip this weekend, definitely the longest I've done. I have to bring a suit and I'm certain it will get wrinkled if I wear it/stuff it in a bag so I may just take the Civic unless anyone has ideas to keep the suit relatively nice. Good advice with the earplugs/gold bond/comfortable stuff though.
