Grips?

Does anyone run aftermarket grips? I ordered a set of Harri's. And was wondering if anyone had used them and prefers them to stock ones.

What are good grips to replace my current ones?

vangill 07-04-2010 11:20 PM

dude, im not being rude at all but.................... theres like 2 million billion types of grips and the ones that r good for u r totally gonna be the ones you like, not the ones i like or he likes. well they could be similar, but its just too hard to say, especially without knowing what u r using them for

one of my buddies runs only renthal softs, another only the hards bc the softs wear away too fast. currently i got a set of progrips, they grip great but the style i got has little cushion. i have heard the harri's r quite comfy but i just dont like the big cbr on my grips, but thats just me. that goodness grips arent too expensive so u can do trial and error

but basically if u r wanting comfort go with a type of gel
for anything else, there will be lots of trial and error bc u got single compounds, dual compounds.....

Hmmm that is a good question, there are alot of good grips out there. Some you can pay a bunch for.

Ok here are a few links, you tell me something....the ones I have are the third ones, I like them.

I like mine alot.

Yes I agree with vangill, I tried progrips to start for after-market...I think I still want to try something with a gel though for my hand comfort.

The 3rd link in my last post though are if you cannot tell a "replica" style grip but they are nice.

vangill 07-04-2010 11:28 PM

how does it feel with the half gel and other part metal? is it weird? thats the worry i have that kept me from tryin those

Lowridese 07-04-2010 11:39 PM

The metal part is nice....almost have fingers fall right in there. I figured though hey cmon a replica haha....the ONLY problem I have is I didnt want to put any type of glue or what not on the grip and I have a cramp buster, like tonight on the way home I can tell the cramp buster over time was sliding on the freeway. Have any ideas on a light spray or something I can install on the inside of the grips BUT dont want them to stay there forever because I always change my mind.

THE one other thing is that I got lucky because I had lost one of my bar ends already and the stock bar ends are not long enough for these...I didnt want to but my local Honda shop had these well something like these chrome ones, I paid more then I wanted but with military discount and all they were like 25 dollars. I see the extended ones all over ebay though, they are nice on the bike.

Here are some black extended ones...Hmmm might have to change them out.

i use hairspray helps them go on easier too and doesnt dry permanently

why exactly did u have to get extended bar ends?

Lowridese 07-05-2010 12:05 AM

I didn't have to get anything, with the new bar ends they were a different design that threaded right into our current inserts that are for factory. Hairspray huh...hmmm I guess slippery when on and hardens up....YES and isnt like a cement but I am sure will keep in place. Awesome.

Progrip 699 'nuff said.

Indiana 07-05-2010 08:52 AM

I have pro grips on both of my bikes, and I like them. There cheap, and I change them out whenever I feel like changing. I have the 699's on my 750F, and the 838's on the F4i. Both of them are fairly comfortable, but the 838's give me the feeling that there thin when I ride with them for a extended ride. I have a set of 725's waiting in my garage to be swapped out soon.
