Default generator windings winding me up!!!!

Hi guys! New battery, all wiring checked and only 11v coming out of the altinator when the bike is revving.... As low as 8v on take over.

I bought a new one off a mate from a hornet hoping it'd fit and although the fitment seems the same and the wiring is different it is a good bit thinner.

I then ordered one from a bike breakers and explained that it isn't the same and that I need one from that model and he sent me one assuring me its the same. Its not, its the same as the hornet.....

Questions......
A) where can I get the exact one without costing the earth
B) will the thinner one work ie should I even butcher the wiring to try it or is there no point?

Any light on the subject would be greatly appreciated!

B-)

I've never known oem stators or reg/rec's to cost a ton of money[$234 on motosport.com for a stator] I'd spend the money for the correct part instead of cutting up your wiring. Why butcher something when the correct repair is possible?

I bought one off eBay already.... Was just wondering if anybody knew if the actual hornet one would work until I got the right part - missing out on riding time here!
