Default Gas Tank leaking

I have a 2002 F4I and it is leaking fuel from the pinched areas on the gas tank near my crotch. I consider these weak areas to be from defective manufacturing. Has anyone heard of Honda's opinion to this faulty design?

I have fixed the problem short term with JB Weld but that only lasted a couple months. I'm now trying some epoxy "clay like" stuff from an auto parts store that is designed for gas tanks. I will probably need to get it TIG welded for the final fix but am wondering if anyone else has had this problem or knows if Honda has taken any responsibility for the design of the tanks.

Any others having this problem?

I feel this is a problem that takes time to develop. Rust probably at the thin areas. Perhaps this would only be found in 2002 and older models.

WOW, I hope this doesn't happen to mine. I have the same year, make and Color as you do. My bike has only 250 original miles on it though. Hope to catch the problem before is occures. I'll be topping off my gas tank before parking it for the winter rusting in the tank.

wow...you need to put some padding on the underside of the tail to prop it against the tank so it doesn't rub away like that...also, using the padding would decrease the likelihood of the stress cracks you get at the bolts near your crotch.
