Gas tank???
 

Need help please. I took off my tank on my 02 600 f4i and cannot get the holes lined back up for re-installation. Whether i put the front bolts in the back comes close but not enough then if i do the rear ones first the front is way off like a quarter to half inch. If anyone here has advice i really need help to get my bike back together its my only transportation. thanks

I have never had my tank all the way off, but I have run into this problem on several vehicles.

Don't tighten any bolts until they are all threaded in.

Make sure you're in the right hole. I know the top only has one set of holes. Can't remember about the bottom.

It should sit in there nicely. If it doesn't, find out what it's hitting on and remedy that issue. Maybe the air box is not seated correctly???? What were you doing under your tank?

You are putting in the clip for the seat to slide under right? That sits on top of the bottom two bolt holes? Like they said, it should line up perfectly, Either you bent one of the 2 brackets on the tank, or something is under your tank. I can guarantee the frame didnt bend heh. Edit: Well the frame can bend but yea, its gonna be the tank or something before the frame, but if it was one before and they came out nicely then its not is what I mean.
